With over 25 years of experience in people management, program development, peacebuilding, and mentorship, I am a globally-minded grassroots community leader. My mission is to empower women and girls through diverse and meaningful modalities.

Rooted in Heritage

“You can take the Indian out of India; India will forever remain in her heart and soul.”

Born in the United States and a Californian at heart, my upbringing was deeply shaped by my South Indian roots. Raised by my grandparents in an ethnic South Indian community, I immersed myself in cultural arts and spiritual traditions. Influenced by female saints such as Mata Amritanandamayi, Karunamayi Ma, and Pujya Shri Mathioli Saraswathi, I took mantra diksha on Devi Saraswathi from Amma at the tender age of 11. This connection with Maa Saraswathi continues to inspire my pursuits in music, art, writing, and academic and spiritual inquiry.

Educational Foundations and Early Career

“The sun rises in the east and sets in the west.”

I earned my BS in Sociology and a certificate in gerontology from Santa Clara University. My passion for community work led me to roles as a substitute teacher and teaching assistant at UC Davis. Realizing that large organizations didn’t align with my values, I shifted my focus to working in a community center, supporting people with essential needs like food, clothing, and housing. Alongside this, I began teaching music, first to children and later to adults, transforming it into a full-time vocation that also allowed me to explore other creative arts.

Turning Adversity into Strength

“Where a door is closed, a bigger door is opened.”

After experiencing a life-altering trauma, I sought healing through yoga and eventually earned a yoga teacher training certificate. Yoga became my foundation, offering me strength and resilience while paving the way for new opportunities and growth.

A Journey of Purpose and Karma

“This is my Karma.”

My academic journey led me to earn two MA degrees in Peacebuilding and Environmental Security, where I explored the role of nature-based yoga in supporting trauma survivors and fostering international peacebuilding. In 2011, I returned to India, fulfilling my karma to serve the land of my foremothers. Here, I became a yoga therapist for underserved communities and founded an NGO, combining my experiences to empower and uplift others. Accepting what the Goddess has given me, I continue to walk this path with gratitude and purpose.
