Devi Loving Station

A few weeks back, my friends and I took a road trip to Sonebadhra. While the place itself was a bit of a let down because it’s closed on Sundays and anyway, everyone has to get permission to enter the dam premises, the ride was great. I had a friend from Iraq who did half the driving, so that made it easier.

The best part of the trip, however, was the Devi Filling Station, which we visited twice, not for filling petrol, but rather, for using the toilet.

Yes, that’s right. I went back, just to relieve my bladder and move my bowels.

It was so nice the first time, that when we were headed back, I just had to go again.

It was so nice that the owners had me record a video which they could use for marketing purposes. Yes, this toilet definitely needs to be marketed to all the women riding past. This is the place for you.

The owners were so nice to us. We asked them all sorts of questions: directions, recommendations, and descriptions. On the way back, we were looking for a place to have tea, so, they invited us to share a cup (or 3, as we were a group of 3), with them, and served us with their own hands. We spent a good time with them, chatting about our lives and work. They also support the construction of highways across India as part of their business.

I’d say, this is not a Devi Filling Station. It’s not where you get your fill of Devi; rather, it’s where you are treated with love as Devi.

You can (and should) visit the Devi Filling station whenever you’re in the area of Sonebhadra: https://locator.iocl.com/indianoil-devi-filling-station-petrol-pump-adalganj-sonbhadra-218927/Contact-Us
